Today’s music isn’t made solely with the traditional musical instruments one would think of- in fact, most new music combines traditional instruments with software and audio processing! The development of Digital Audio Workstations (or DAWs) has revolutionized how music is made. This camp will help develop the young producer inside any musician. Throughout the week, campers will work in small group work to create two original electronic music projects using the Ableton DAW platform along with traditional instruments such as the guitar, drums, bass guitar and keyboards. This camp is perfect for beginners to get started as well as for more experienced musicians looking to expand their sound and knowledge of music production. Campers will learn how to create and mix their own tracks employing audio, MIDI and effects. This camp will have an emphasis on how MIDI is utilized with sound design, as well as delving deeper into sound design using tools such as waveforms, filter types and audio editing. Each student will have hands on access to MIDI controllers and instruments, and are welcome to bring their own devices to work with. Campers will also receive a copy of their original songs on CD or flash drive at the conclusion of the camp!
