The Stanley Band Experience Will Timbers Be a part of the greatest musical fusion this world has ever seen... Learn how to shred a new instrument, become a virtuoso on an old one, and rehearse a Red Rocks-worthy performance with all of your friends. Any and all instruments are welcome, especially drums, piano, guitar, ukulele, and bass. We’ll cover a range of genres, including pop, hip hop, classic rock, punk, electronic, and more - it all depends on how the music speaks to the band. We will have a limited set of ukuleles and guitars, as well as a drum set, for everyone to share. Bringing your own instrument is highly recommended! To cool down from all of the hard rocking, we’ll go swimming in the afternoon on two of the days. Material Fee - $5

In this introductory class, students will learn to recognize and identify the fundamental aspects of beginning guitar. Students will learn the parts of the guitar, work to understand basic tuning, develop finger dexterity and strumming abilities, and understand note intervals and basic chords. They will learn scales and be introduced to chord charts and basic rhythms. Students will work both individually and in groups, learning to play some of their favorite popular songs. A guitar is required for class. We will try to provide a guitar for students who do not have one readily available. This class is suitable for students with little or no experience. The curriculum will be designed to fit the needs and experience of each musician. Materials Fee: $15

Voice class is designed to improve each student’s singing voice and develop the ability to sing in front of others. Through the duration of the class, the student will be taught the fundamentals of healthy vocal production, which includes the following: 1) Proper posture and breathing 2) tone production 3) diction 4) expression 5) self-efficacy. The fundamentals of reading music will also be covered. Individual vocal faults will be assessed and exercises will be provided to help strengthen and improve the singing voice. The repertoire for this class is decided by both the student and the teacher. The intermediate level differs from the beginning level in that the student should already possess a working knowledge of vocal technique, which can be workshopped in a masterclass setting. Students will sing together as well as in a solo performance on stage at the end of the class. Main Stage Performance Friday, June 24th 6:30 p.m. Materials Fee: $15

Central City Opera’s Performing Arts Intensive (PAI) at Kent Denver is designed to give high school sophomores, juniors, seniors, and incoming college freshmen holistic training in the performing arts and a taste of the opera company’s internationally renowned Bonfils-Stanton Artists Training Program. This Performing Arts Intensive presented at Kent Denver School will mirror the training program for opera singers ages 20-32 occurs that occurs during CCO’s summer opera festival. The program at Kent Denver will provide classes in movement, stage combat, diction, acting, and performance opportunities. Students of the PAI will receive similar training (Yoga and the Voice, stylized stage movement, diction, stage combat, vocal health, and acting) as well as perform age-appropriate scenes from opera, opera, and music theatre at a final public performance on Saturday evening. The skills learned in the Performing Arts Intensive will help students prepare for auditions and college programs, and students are encouraged to list this experience on their resumes. Students may not get the role of their choice but will have plenty of chances to perform. Students and their families will also have an opportunity to visit the CCO festival in July to observe the artists-in-training and spend a performance at the historic Opera House (extra cost - date TBD). The 2020 Central City Opera Festival includes Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel, Verdi’s opera Rigoletto, and the English Baroque chamber opera Dido & Aeneas.

In this class, students will be working on taking their skills as a guitarist to the next level. The class will focus on developing overall knowledge of the instrument, as well as fundamentals for being a good musician. Some of the topics include rhythm, chords, scales, improvising, songwriting/composition and basic theory. Students will be learning with hands-on experience in group and more individualized settings. The curriculum is designed around guitar players who have at least 1-2 years of experience playing the guitar. Students should have knowledge of chords, notes, and general ability on the instrument. Bringing your own guitar is required.  Materials Fee: $15

Exploring Dance and Movement...will do just that! Dancers of all levels will be challenged to explore, create and discover self-expression through a variety of dance techniques, dance styles and basic movement skills both individually and in ensemble work. Dancers will discover and build physical confidence through movement and rhythm using their bodies as well as props, such as brooms, buckets, drum sticks and more. In addition to the “stomp”-themed dance and rhythm, movers will also learn pop and hip hop dance moves that will intertwine well with the rhythms that we create. We will have a twenty minute dance sharing of our created work at the conclusion of the class on Thursday.$15 MATERIALS FEE

Young musicians will experience a whirlwind amazing adventure trip around the world in this camp! Students should pack their suitcase and get ready for the musical extravaganza of their life!!! Young musicians will explore songs, stories, instruments and crafts as they explore a variety of countries and cultures from around the world through music. Campers will learn a song from a dugout canoe in Tahiti, fold outlandishly original origami animals and shapes, discover tremendous musical treasures from Japan, play sensational circle games from Africa or move their bodies to fantastic folk dances from Russia. Musicians will use movement, singing, instruments and more. Campers will catch the travel bug and boogie to beats from around the world as they travel together in this tremendously exciting and diverse adventure guided by travel tunes that circle the globe!

Calling all young farmers - “Come on down to the farm!” - and learn about all of the amazing things that make life “fun on the farm” ! Observe farm animals and critters who make their homes in surrounding fields and forests. Explore elements of gardens, learning about small plots and seedlings, and understanding the connections between sun, soil, water and seeds. Understand how foods are grown, and maybe set up your own farmers market…...just for fun! We’ll read about horses, baby chicks and goats in our favorite farm stories. Students will also connect with the world outside as they discover beautiful meadows, ponds, fabulous forests and wonderful waterways on Kent Denver’s beautiful campus. Campers’ days will be filled with artistic sketching, poetry writing, nature-based arts and exploration, and observation of animals, bugs and other critters around them. $20 MATERIALS FEE

For the circus enthusiast who has always wanted to run away and join the circus...well now is your chance!!! Students will step into the magic of circus performance as they explore their individual and ensemble talents in juggling, acrobatics, hula hooping and aerial dancing hung from the ceiling, such as the lyra and silks. For student performers who have been inspired by the work of companies, such as Cirque du Soleil, Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey, Big Apple Circus and Cirque Us, come and learn some of the “tricks of the trade”.  Explore the different circus performer disciplines in a safe and fun environment where each student will get to experience the magic of the circus. A short demonstration will be shared at the end of the last class.  Materials Fee: $25
